With the recent news of the London based "Onlyfans" to ban sexually explicit content, "porn" to the rest of the world, is a real kick in the teeth for so called content creators who have been milking the industry for their own self-gain by uploading amateur content as a sex worker.

As of October 1st 2021, Only fans will cease to host sexually explicit conduct to allow for the long term sustainability of the platform and to continue hosting an inclusive group of content creators.

This is because Onlyfans needed to comply with banking and payout providers and the future investment strategies' required to continue to build this amazing platform.

Onlyfans is a solid platform for content creators with a genuine interest in fitness, healthy lifestyles, cooking, hobby, crafts and fashion but the unregulated pornography really was a ticking time bomb.

The adult industry is highly regulated, in-fact, I have been approached by Onlyfans creators previously who are unable to sign-up to the main sources of adult entertainment because they cannot pass the strict compliance checks that are imposed for legal purposes and compliance which speaks volumes.

There will be a host of competitors all rubbing their hands together ready to jump on this opportunity but no where is there a platform that is as solid as Onlyfans and this will only serve to divide the freelance sex workers or they will migrate to professional, well established and professional studios who provide; mental health support, financial training and education on legislation and best practices.

The sex industry as a whole nets more than the major main stream media studios and is worth an estimated $100B globally and as of May 2021, porn sites received more website traffic in the U.S. than Twitter, Instagram, Netflix, Pinterest, and LinkedIn combined.

Although the word porn and sex worker are highly taboo subjects, there is no hiding the fact that it is an immensely profitable circuit and if done correctly and in collaboration with professionals will always be a highly popular source of entertainment and income.

This is a long overdue decision made by Onlyfans and I am positive they will only stand to grow bigger and bigger as a unique platform for content creators.
